At Naughton Translations, I will ensure that your text reads fluently, naturally and as if written by a native English speaker.
These are services associated with the translation process but which I can offer separately. You may have a text which has already been translated but you want a second opinion. Here’s what I can offer:
Proofreading and Editing
These are services associated with the translation process but which I can offer separately. You may have a text which has already been translated but you want a second opinion.
Proofreading
Proofreading is defined as the ‘checking of proofs before publication.’ I can read your documents to ensure there are no major spelling mistakes or errors in grammar. This is really the final check before it goes to publishing and is offered for a document that has already been translated but you may want a final check on.
In this case I won’t use the original text to compare the translation, as I’m only looking for spelling mistakes and minor errors in grammar. I’ll assume there are no errors in meaning.
Editing
Editing, on the other hand, is defined as ‘the examination of a translation for its suitability for the agreed purpose, comparison of the source and target texts and recommendation of corrective measures.’
As you can see, this is more in-depth and covers major errors in grammar, errors in meaning, expression that may make the text sound stilted and which might show that the translation had originally been done by a non-native speaker. Here, I’ll check the translation against the original text. It will take longer, and cost more, as I charge an hourly rate for this service, but if there’s any doubt about the meaning of the text, this is the one to go for.
Do you have a text that has already been translated but need a second opinion, or just need a check for spelling and grammar before it goes to publishing? Look no further. I can get that text ready to go on your website, or academic text ready to get sent to the publishing house.
